Designers Stephen Ormandy and Louise Olsen

Have you heard of Dinosaur Designs? Probably...but even if that doesn't ring a bell, chances are you have seen one of their amazing creations.

Dinosaur Designs is a collaboration between designers Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, who met whilst in art school in Sydney.

With stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New York, Dinosaur Designs started off selling unique and bold hand-painted fabrics and jewellery.  The scope of what the label now carries has widened to include homewares, as well as their signature resin and silver jewellery.

A little bit of inspiration for you on a Wednesday morning:

Jim Lambie is an artist, a DJ and a musician.

The Scotsman is best known for his bold floor patterns and colourful sculptural installations using props from modern pop culture. He has been known for using bright multicolour strips of vinyl tape but I find his monochromatic floor patterns extremely inspiring at the moment.

A few months ago my partner and I ventured to Melbourne for the launch of a film he worked on.

While we were down there we did what everyone does on a trip to Melbourne – we ate.

We ate and we walked and we ate and we walked and we drank good coffee and great wine.

I might be behind the eight ball but I have a new love in my life – Chin Chin.

Chin Chin is a mix of great branding and excellent food.

We can't hide our love for Finnish design God's, Marimekko.

And we certainly can't hide our excitement that they are following the latest trend and finally opening shop on Aussie soil.

In good news they are advertising retail jobs.

And the bad news, they are only opening in Sydney and Melbourne.

Hopefully, they will expand pretty quickly and open in Brisbane in the near future.

Retro done right is an art form.

And at Amelia Shaw, in Brunswick Melbourne, it is just that.

Danielle Brustman, set designer come interior designer, has perfected the practise of selecting a perfect vintage pallet for this hip little joint. I personally can't get enough of the art deco stamp that is all over this bar. I love the geometric lines and patterns and the awesome colour pallet.

So cool, so Melbourne.

Turckcell's Maltepe Plaza office has had all new social/ communal areas designed for them by mimarisstudio in Istanbul. Amazingly the refurbishment was designed and executed in only 4 months. I think that is pretty impressive. I like the communal areas and their ability to play host to formal and informal meetings, gatherings, dinning etc. There are 2 atriums, which have been refurbished and landscaped to match in with the other new communal areas, which have a cozy atmosphere.

I think I like the Tianxi Oriental Club. I mean everyone likes timber right?

And this place is TIMBER! I know I like the shapes and forms of the structure, but for something that is made entirely out of a warm material - the space feels somewhat cold to me. Don't get me wrong I dig the minimalist vibes but I think this design would make a wicked church rather than a club. Agree?

Studio Mode  have designed this breathtaking cafe in Bulgaria. The beautiful columns / ceilings remind me of those old tacky party decorations that fanned out - in a completely non-tacky way. Love the white floors, adore the black ceiling. Can't pull my eyes away from the punch of greenery running down the centre.
